Shawn Walker's Blog: Bye, Bye, Portland...

It's 10:35 on Saturday evening and I had a great day today, Shawn. Mark picked me up around 9:30 and we headed out to the port of Vancouver on the Washington side of the Columbia River to watch a ship get loaded with wheat for Japan. Mark new it was loading because this was a deal he negotiated. They allowed us on the ship and we got to climb up the the scaffolding of one of the holding bins and watch the wheat flow in. It takes two days to load all the wheat, nearly 1 million bushels. It was quite cool.
From vancouver we headed back across the Columbia and into Portland so that we could follow the Columbia east to the gorge and the Cascades. Stunningly beautiful is all I can say. I shot video so I can't wait to show it to you. I suppose I should upload it to you but I'm too lazy to do that right now. While there we hiked up to the top of Multnomah Falls- more beauty than anyone should be allowed to take in in one day. We returned to Portland, ate at a neighborhood Vietnamese restaurant and then picked up Mark's oldest daughter, 6 year old Addyson, and took her to her (and mine as well) first WNBA game at the Rose Garden. I just returned from that. How's that for blogging a days journey? I know, too long. I should have broken it up into several entries I guess.
I was going to stick my head in and say goodbye this morning but thought it was rather anticlimactic to do so after the good parting the night before. Thanks again for bringing my suitcase home. I'll pick it from you when I get home on the 2nd or when you come to the party on the 3rd.

Directions to my house for the 3rd.

Norwood Lateral west to North I-75, exit immediately on to Towne Ave., turn left and go through Elmwood Place going up hill past the land fill. The street changes names to Center Hill. Continue past the P&G research campus until dead ending on North Bend. Turn left, actually merge left,on to North Bend with the light and continue west on on North Bend. Go through the Winton Road intersection continuing west for 4 more traffic lights. Our house is 1 1/2 blocks past the 4th light (Argus Road--T from left) diagonally across the Street from the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall. We are on the left side of street -- 1225 North Bend Rd. Big White house 1 1/2 acres of land, split rail fence in front sort of run down, stone pillar at drive way has street number (1225) painted on it. Pull in and park down by the barn. Let me know if this doesn't make any sense.
