To Christmas Tree or Not to Christmas Tree?

This evening, Elyse and I met in Clifton to see Bowling for Columbine. For some odd reason, she ended up getting lost and we missed the movie. I still want to see it sometime soon!

Anyway, we were talking about getting into the Christmas spirit and she said that I should decorate the house. For some reason, I haven't been in the holiday mood since mom and dad seperated. But the idea of getting a tree sounded somewhat interesting and she offered to let me borrow one of her fake, plastic trees. Umm, no nasty ass fake, plastic trees for me. It has been a family tradition to have a real tree every year. Elyse then pointed out that it is odd that I would kill a living tree and yet be so freindly to the environment in many other ways. That kind of hit me that having a real Christmas tree would be a waste of a living tree... Maybe I should reconsider.

I'm volunteering myself to help decorate since I have too much stuff already in my room to do anything Christmasy (is that a word?) and my "spawn of Satan" (Freckles) won't let me do much in MY OWN HOME. (Hopefully the cats will have some decency to let you decorate without having to worry 24/7 what's been destroyed over the past 10 minutes of quiet.)

From one environmental/cheap freak to the other, save your money and the life of many many trees, buy a pretty artificial Christmas tree; it's been a tradition in my family for years! :)

Go with fake. Our family's had one for years and it serves us fine. Incidentally, Alex has seen Bowling For Columbine (oddly, he missed it by getting lost the first time he went to see it, too...) and says it's REALLY good. For those not in the know, title comes from the fact that one of the things the boys who committed the killings at Columbine DID enjoy was bowling. I think someone said they went bowling the night before or day of the killings, also, but I'm a tad hazy, having not seen it myself.

Well, this comment is already too long. Back to trying to finish my 333 program for me...

Nobody before the Pythagoreans had thought that mathematical relations held the secret of the universe. Twenty-five centuries later, Europe is still blessed and cursed with their heritage. To non-European civilizations, the idea that numbers are the key to both wisdom and power, seems never to have occurred. by texas holdem

Scipio used to say that he was never less idle than when he had nothing to do and never less lonely than when he was alone. An admirable sentiment, in truth, and becoming to a great and wise man. by texas holdem poker
