I'll be in town for a while now...

Gosh, it has been a totally week! Last week was the end of finals. Well actually I still have my CSC333 final to complete because Dr. Hauser was kind enough to give me an incomplete. On Thursday morning, dad went to Bethesda North to have another angiogram done. After the angiogram, they decided to do a triple bipass. Amy and I spent the rest of the day waiting for the doctor to decide when they were going to perform the operation. Finally at about 6:30PM they decided to put it off until Friday morning.

On Friday we spent the day at the hospital while dad was in the operating room. After a little over 5 hours, the doctor came out and told us that everything went well and that they had performed a quadruple bipass. Then we went back into the recovery room to see him. He was still asleep and was on a ventilator. Let me tell ya, it was definitely freaky to see him there not breathing on his own. That evening at about 11pm they took him off of the ventilator. Since then he has been slowly improving to the point that he might go home tomorrow afternoon. When he does get home, he will only be able to lift less then 5lbs. That means that he cannot even lift a gallon of milk (about 8.5 lbs). No picking up the kids or anything. He will be back to normal a little over 8 weeks, so it is going to be a stressful next couple of weeks as we take care of dad and keep the kids away.

As if this wasn't enough... Amy is going to have the next baby on Wednesday morning. This is going to be the first birth that dad won't be able to attend. He is extremely bummed. So, this week will be interesting because both dad and Amy will be out of commission.

I was planning to fly to New York Wednesday night and come back on Sunday morning, but it looks like I get to stay home because I am the only other person that has been trained to take care of dad besides Amy. Amy will be busy recovering from the birth so that leaves me. No pressure.... :)

This evening, Jordan and Dave came over for dinner. We cooked some vegetable enchiladas and then spent many hours over a game of Risk. Let me tell ya, that game is definitely addictive. I do suck at it, but practice make perfect.

Still waiting for that dinner for 2 you promised me! On the other hand, I'm glad to know your Dad is okay, as is Amy and the baby. Keep in touch Shawn! I'm closer to you now than I was a week ago!

Shawn,

We missed you being with us in NYC sooo badly. There were so many things we saw that we both said "I wish Shawn could see this!". BUT, there will be other trips together and you were needed at home. And...having been a recipient of your post-surgery coddling, I know your Dad and Amy appreciate you more than they can ever say.

Love you,
deb

Nobody before the Pythagoreans had thought that mathematical relations held the secret of the universe. Twenty-five centuries later, Europe is still blessed and cursed with their heritage. To non-European civilizations, the idea that numbers are the key to both wisdom and power, seems never to have occurred. by online poker

The human mind evolved to believe in the gods. It did not evolve to believe in biology. Acceptance of the supernatural conveyed a great advantage throughout prehistory, when the brain was evolving. Thus it is in sharp contrast to biology, which was developed as a product of the modern age and is not underwritten by genetic algorithms. The uncomfortable truth is that the two beliefs are not factually compatible. As a result those who hunger for both intellectual and religious truth will never acquire both in full measure. by free texas holdem
