Life with Tivo
Yesterday afternoon, the DirecTV installer came by and installed our dish and DirecTV with
Tivo receiver. This installation has been many months in the making as I worked to convince Jason that DirecTV would be cheaper and we waited for approval from the condo board. Finally after a few delays and some adjustment to condo life on my part, it is installed.
So far, I have been extremely impressed. With
DirecTV, the picture quality seems superior to
Insight digital cable. We have more channels (not that we need more!) and don't need to use the VCR to record programs any more. The Season Pass feature allows us to record all occurrences of a show (first-run, first-run and reruns, or all with duplicates). The Wish List records programs with actors or themes that we like. It also learns what we watch and makes suggestions.
So far, this all seems pretty sexy, but I think that we are still going to like it after the "new gadget" factor wears off. Right now, I would highly suggest DirecTV as an alternative to local cable.
