Lots of Photos

I've uploaded lots of photos. Including pictures of Ryan (new brother), random NKU People, Bono AIDS Workshop, and Zombies and Brains Pics.

Eventually I will redesign my site, but until then enjoy! You can now add comments to any of the pictures too!

He is already dating...

Well, I was going to ask this guy from NKU out, but it appears that he already has a boyfriend... Sucky. I guess I should have read his LiveJournal before sending him e-mail. I can be such a dumbass sometimes.

Maid in New York...

This evening I went out to dinner and saw Maid in New York with a friend. It was nice to get away from dad duty for a few hours. Amy and Ryan came home from the hospital this afternoon. She kicked me out because I haven't had a break from taking care of dad for the last 4 days.

The movie was somewhat predictable, but it was cute and uplifting. It was romantic, but we all know that this doesn't happen in real life. Now I just have to make it out to see the new Lord of the Rings movie.

Blue's Clues...

I'm sitting on the couch and watching Blue's Clues. Today Blue is going to the doctor. She was weighed, measured, and even received a shot! The only reason that I haven't changed the channel is because I think that Joe on the show is cute. Apparently he has replaced Steve... Who knows, but they are both cute. How sad is that?

Before Blue went to the doctor, they were playing doctor for a while. I was sitting there thinking: "Joe can be my doctor anytime..." You can read more about Joe in the All about Joe Q&A. For some reason, they left out the how do I get a date with Joe question.

Did you know that there are three snails in every Blue's Clues episode. They are a trademark of the animation studio. There are other interesting facts on the unofficial Blue's Clues webaite.

Newest Brother...

I spent the night at Dad's so that I would be able to help him through his after open-heart surgery routine. We were successful in getting throught the pulse check, weight, shower, breakfast, and the swallowing of the pills. Then it was off to the hospital and wait for the baby to be born.

We got there at about noon. At 3:45pm, Ryan Thomas Walker decided to grace us with his birth. He came out weighing 8 lbs. 8 ounces. Everything went well and they both should be home by Friday afternoon.

I'll be in town for a while now...

Gosh, it has been a totally week! Last week was the end of finals. Well actually I still have my CSC333 final to complete because Dr. Hauser was kind enough to give me an incomplete. On Thursday morning, dad went to Bethesda North to have another angiogram done. After the angiogram, they decided to do a triple bipass. Amy and I spent the rest of the day waiting for the doctor to decide when they were going to perform the operation. Finally at about 6:30PM they decided to put it off until Friday morning.

On Friday we spent the day at the hospital while dad was in the operating room. After a little over 5 hours, the doctor came out and told us that everything went well and that they had performed a quadruple bipass. Then we went back into the recovery room to see him. He was still asleep and was on a ventilator. Let me tell ya, it was definitely freaky to see him there not breathing on his own. That evening at about 11pm they took him off of the ventilator. Since then he has been slowly improving to the point that he might go home tomorrow afternoon. When he does get home, he will only be able to lift less then 5lbs. That means that he cannot even lift a gallon of milk (about 8.5 lbs). No picking up the kids or anything. He will be back to normal a little over 8 weeks, so it is going to be a stressful next couple of weeks as we take care of dad and keep the kids away.

As if this wasn't enough... Amy is going to have the next baby on Wednesday morning. This is going to be the first birth that dad won't be able to attend. He is extremely bummed. So, this week will be interesting because both dad and Amy will be out of commission.

I was planning to fly to New York Wednesday night and come back on Sunday morning, but it looks like I get to stay home because I am the only other person that has been trained to take care of dad besides Amy. Amy will be busy recovering from the birth so that leaves me. No pressure.... :)

This evening, Jordan and Dave came over for dinner. We cooked some vegetable enchiladas and then spent many hours over a game of Risk. Let me tell ya, that game is definitely addictive. I do suck at it, but practice make perfect.

Crappy credit card offer

The friendly people at Frist PREMIER Bank mailed me a Pre-Approved 9.9% Fixed APR MasterCard. I actually opened the envelope to see just have crappy the offer was. Well, the fee structure includes a one-time $29.99 account set-up fee; a one-time $95.00 program fee; a $48.00 annual fee; and a $72.00 annual participation fee (conveniently billed at $6.00 per month). Wow, people must be extremely desperate for credit if they go for this offer. That is about $244.00 for the first year of the card and $120.00 each additional year. OUCH!

They also charge a $25.00 over the limit fee and a $3.95 internet access fee (what the heck is that?).

The initial available credit statement is as follows:

The initial minimum credit limit will be at least $250 and the following fees will be billed to your first statement: Annual Fee of $40.00, Program Fee of $95.00, Account Setup Up Fee of $29.00, monthly Participation Fee of $6.00, and an Additional Card of Fee of $20.00 (if applicable). If you are assigned the minimum credit line of $250 your initial available credit will be $72 ($52 if you choose the additional card option).

Healthy Lunch...

This afternoon I have eating an extremely healthly lunch. It consists of:

Pizza Rolls. These are healthy because it is not real pizza.
Mocha Soy Milk: This is healthy because it is not real milk.

*Note: this is my 100th post. I don't know what that means.

Discussion Forum for Civil Society

wsis_forum_banner_175x65.gif

Speaking at the Opening of the meeting, UNESCO Director-General Koïchiro
Matsuura said that UNESCO is well-positioned to bring quite diverse
constituencies into the Summit process and, indeed, to act as a bridge
linking civil society, governments, professional groups and users.
UNESCO, he stated, wishes to ensure that the Summit addresses questions
that go beyond 'access' in technical or infrastructural terms: "After
all, the access in question is really about full access to society; more than this, it is about the capacity to influence the kind of society being generated by large-scale technological and economic forces". The desire
to enlarge the Summit's agenda to take account of important issues of intellectual and ethical debate is something that UNESCO shares with civil society. "The narrowing of cultural as well as technological divides is something we must all strive for", said the Director-General.
